Nikki Popoola joins WIOCC as Sales Director

Nikki_Popoola_joins_WIOCCHighly-experienced senior telecoms professional Nikki Popoola has joined WIOCC as Director – Sales, where she will be helping international carriers procure simple solutions to their complex connectivity challenges into and within Africa.

Commenting on the latest addition to the WIOCC team, WIOCC CEO Chris Wood said:

Nikki has been in the telecoms industry for almost 20 years and joined WIOCC after seven years with Tata Communications, where she sold a wide range of services across numerous countries in Africa. Nikki also held managerial roles at Gateway Communications, where she established multiple interconnects with organisations such as Safaricom and Ethiopia Telecoms; and Cable & Wireless, for whom she sold services in sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East.

MTN appoints ex-Telkom CMO as COO

CAPE TOWN: Enzo Scarcella is leaving his chief marketing officer post at Telkom to be MTN South Africa’s new chief operating officer. The telecommunications company said he will assume the role on December 1. He was also previously managing executive of marketing at Vodacom.

A company statement said he “has extensive brand and marketing experience‚ and has worked in the broadcasting‚ retail and fast moving goods industries”.

“He served as brand manager for South African Breweries and Guinness in the United Kingdom‚ and worked at Edcon and M-Net where he served in the role of strategy and marketing executive and marketing executive respectively‚” it added. Scarcella holds a Bachelors of Arts (Honours) degree from Harvard University and a masters qualification from Cambridge University.

MTN South Africa chief executive officer Mteto Nyati: “As we strive to achieve our strategic objectives of driving business growth‚ transforming customer experience and overhauling employee engagement‚ it is important that we have right individuals in place that will help us increase our market share in non-voice services and strengthen our foothold in adjacent sectors.”
