South Africa: Cabinet approves National Radio Frequency Plan

9 June 2017

South Africa’s Cabinet has endorsed the approved National Radio Frequency Plan 2017.

The Department of Telecommunications and Postal Services said the plan is aligned with the International Telecommunication Union Radio Regulation, which accounts for spectrum exclusively used for security services.

The plan references the SADC Frequency Allocation Plan and SADC Harmonised Guidelines, and is also compatible with the National Integrated ICT Policy.

Minister Siyabonga Cwele has written to ICASA to inform the authority of the approval.

This will allow ICASA to work towards publishing the National Radio Frequency Plan.
