7 December 2017

The official ceremony for the launch of Airtel’s 4G took place on 01 December in Tulear, in the presence of the Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and Digital Development, Neypatraiky Rakotomamonjy, Airtel Madagascar’s Managing Director, Maixent Bekangba and its Director Regional Jaona Marka Andriamahefa, as well as local authorities like the prefect, the regional chief, and many other guests.

Recall that the Airtel 4G network has been available and operational in Madagascar for weeks. Its officialization took place during the event in Tulear. The current network consists of 50 sites and will extend to 150 sites in the first quarter of 2018 throughout the country, including in rural areas.

Thanks to 4G and the latest innovations such as U900 technology and Single RAN for densification and network penetration, Airtel’s three million subscribers benefit from a fast Internet connection. The downloading of web pages, video streams, music or online video games are now faster. For professionals, data transfer, interconnection and work on the mobile will be optimal. In addition, 4G makes it possible to share common documents stored in the cloud instantly.

“Most of the 4G technology is based on the speed of data transfer, which makes it an essential tool for optimizing time and productivity,” said Maixent Bekangba, Managing Director of Airtel Madagascar. The 3rd largest mobile operator in the world has always been committed to reducing the digital divide and contributing to the socio-economic development of the Big Island.
