MTN SA launches new multimedia facility for disabled users

MTN South Africa has launched a new multimedia tech facility and library for the benefit of local social welfare organisation Afrika Tikkun Centre, reports ITWeb.The company this week joined deputy minister for Social Development Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu to unveil the facility, designed specifically to empower users with disabilities. It is fully equipped with computers and also an end-user classroom controller programme that allows facilitators to automatically control over infrastructure.

Bogopane-Zulu explained that the centre also uses different versions of automated assessment tool Percy which is used to assess a user's progress, while specialised software Neptune can be easily configured to adapt to- and assist with user requirements. There is also a fully digitalised curriculum for primary and high school learners, with all tech equipment, connectivity and other services provided at no cost. Kusile Mthunzi, General Manager for the MTN Foundation said MTN will provide the centre with 20GB of data per month over the next two years.
