Applus plans to launch 5G in Congo
27 July 2018
Matt Stead, Business and Development Africa Manager of Applus, a company specializing in testing, inspection and certification was received in audience on 16 July 2016 by Congolese Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Léon Juste Ibombo. During the meeting, he expressed to the boss of the telecom sector, the willingness of the company he represents to collaborate with the incumbent operator Congo Telecom to make it more competitive.
In a highly competitive market, Congo Telecom is far behind the mobile operators who have invested over the years in an increasingly dense network and in innovative and personalized service offerings. Countering this strategy now requires the public telecom company, technological means and new services. This is what Apple proposes to bring him.
“Investments in Congo’s telecommunications sector are astronomical and the state needs credible companies to help it implement the digital economy ecosystem. This company will help our incumbent operator, Congo Telecom, to implement 5G, “said Léon Juste Ibombo.
For Matt Stead, although Applus is specialized in services, the interest in the Congolese telecommunications sector is born from its current virgin character. “We will therefore work with the experts of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications to target priority sectors of intervention,” he added.
