John Omo, Director of Legal Services at Kenya's Communications Authority (CA), has succeeded in his bid to lead the African Telecommunications Union (ATU) as Secretary General for a four-year term after he triumphed during elections at the ATU Plenipotentiary Conference in Nairobi on 17 August 2018. Omo received 23 votes to Burundi's Constaque Hakizimana's two votes.

NetOne has served its suspended chief executive officer (CEO) Lazarus Muchenje with disciplinary charges relating to alleged misconduct during his tenure. Muchenje is due to appear before a disciplinary Tribunal on Tuesday. He was suspended without benefits two weeks ago.
