ARCEP warns Gabon Telecom, Airtel over QoS failures
2 November 2018
Gabon’s two leading mobile network operators (MNOs) by subscribers, Gabon Telecom and Airtel Gabon, have been put on notice by the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Communications and Posts (ARCEP) for non-compliance with their quality of service (QoS) obligations, writes Infos Gabon.
The move appears to represent a final warning to the two cellcos, with ARCEP president Lin Mombo explaining: ‘When the delegate or the holder of a licence or authorisation does not comply with the obligations, the regulatory authority is required to issue a formal notice. If the notice of default is not enforced, the licence holder shall incur one of the following penalties: a monetary penalty; the suspension of the licence for a period not exceeding one month; the reduction of the duration of the licence for a maximum of one year or the withdrawal of the licence.’
