Zimbabwe’s state-owned telecommunications operator, NetOne has entered into a collaboration with Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) that will allow individuals and corporates to use the mobile financial services payment platform, OneMoney when paying taxes.

Speaking at the launch, NetOne’s CEO Lazarus Muchenje expressed his excitement about the partnership between the two companies that is expected to drive change.

The NetOne boss said that the new innovation would bring about new-found payment convenience for businesses.

ZIMRA’s Commissioner-General Faith Mazani said that ZIMRA is proud to collaborate with NetOne, and that the partnership would yield new business solutions.

She said that the OneMoney-ZIMRA payment solution’s shared clients, among them private importers, business owners and many others, would now enjoy an unprecedented level of convenience because to pay ZIMRA obligations would now be as simple as dialling *554#.

Faith Mazani added that the move would also decrease cases of tax evasion and avoidance among Zimbabwe’s citizens.
