- The Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) has established a satellite Centre for Innovation and Technology Transfer in Nyagatare in the Eastern province of Rwanda. The centre will serve the local community in the province by facilitating projects aimed at poverty alleviation, economic development, preventing and reversing environmental deterioration by linking the target groups with the Rwandan government, donor organisations and other parties that finance rural development projects.

- Mauritius regulator ICTA is studying a price reduction scheme submitted by Mauritius Telecom (MT). If the proposal is accepted the price of an 128Kbs ADSL connection will decreases from Rs950 to Rs710 per month. The local newspaper, l’Express, also reported that this price reduction was possible because of further 25% price reduction on the SAFE fibre cable since 1st July.
