- Nigerian PTO Startech Connections will deploy a WiMAX network in the Nigerian capital, Abuja, using Alvarion’s BreezeMAX 3500 system, offering broadband data and voice services. Targeting corporate, SOHO and residential subscribers, deployment of the network is expected to begin sometime this quarter.

- Information technology customers in Kenyan town Kisumu can now access broadband VSAT services following the launch of the service in the lakeside region by communication solutions provider, UUNET. The company rolled out the Vsat satellite solutions service to key companies in Kisumu and Western Kenya after another successful launch to horticultural companies in the Rift Valley.

- In an interview, ZTE administrative manager for Zambia Andrew Chintala said that the installation of the optic fibre network in partnership with ZESCO had reached an advanced stage.
