NASHUA MOBILE ENTERS ISP MARKET THROUGH ACQUISITION OF BLACKDOT

Mergers, Acquisitions and Financial Results

Nashua Mobile, the independent cellular service provider in the Reunert Group, has acquired an Internet service provider, BlackDot IT Solutions, as part of its strategy to evolve into a telecom solutions provider that can offer subscribers a broad range of voice and data services through a single point of contact.

BlackDot IT Solutions will be integrated into the broadband division to enable Nashua Mobile to offer a comprehensive portfolio of Internet services ranging from wireless, dial-up, ISDN and ADSL connectivity through to Web site design and Web site/ email hosting, and up to ecommerce, anti-virus and anti-spam solutions.

BlackDot IT Solutions operates on one of South Africa’s VPN networks, which has been engineered to provide enterprise-class reliability and service levels for companies who don’t want to maintain large networking infrastructures of their own.

BlackDot IT Solutions offers a fully managed MPLS VPN network over 18 countrywide POPs, with UK and USA breakout. The company delivers its Internet related services on an infrastructure platform that is built on the latest equipment from top-tier suppliers such as Intel, Cisco, HP and Dell.

Says Mark Taylor, managing director of Nashua Mobile: “Nashua Mobile is evolving from a cellular service provider into a telecom solutions firm that offers corporate, private and SME customers a range of services such as least-cost routing (LCR), PABXs, unified messaging and mobile data, in addition to cellular voice.

“Internet services are an essential part of our vision for the future. As such, BlackDot IT Solutions is a perfect fit for our business since it will help us to expand the range of Internet and Web-related services we are able to offer clients in the SME and corporate markets.”

“Subscribers will also enjoy the convenience of receiving a wealth of services consolidated onto a single bill, simplifying their management of their telecoms environments,” adds Taylor.

“Nashua Mobile took its first step into the Internet services market in February this year when it integrated Nashua Broadband into its fold. Nashua Broadband was previously part of Nashua Automation, Reunert’s office automation subsidiary. BlackDot rounds out Nashua Mobile’s Internet offering and strengthens its skills set in the growing market for Web and Internet solutions,” says Taylor.

Concludes Taylor: “We look forward to serving as a trusted advisor for our customers in the Internet market as we already do in the cellular environment. We will be able to offer our subscribers a broad and transparent choice of connectivity options and Internet services, as well as the information and advice they need to choose the right offering for their needs.”
