Two financial institutions last week rolled out plastic money facilities intended to modernise and ease the clients' rigors of tracking for cash money from banking halls.

Both headquartered in Dar es Salaam, the CRDB Bank and the Tanzania Postal Bank, last week launched their new products amid fanfare. Both hail their products as safe, convenient and available around the clock through Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) and Sale Points.

The CRDB Bank Ltd unveiled the TemboCard Visa card that will enable holders to access their money worldwide wherever there are Visa Electron ATMs, the Tanzania Postal Bank Ltd unveiled its card that will enable its customers to use the card to draw money from its ATMs and points of sale located across the country. While the CRDB Bank Ltd credit/debit cards have been in use for a few years now, popularly known as 'TemboCard', holders of such cards could only use them within Tanzania at ATMs and 246 points of sale.

The new recent card now takes them abroad. Bank's customers can now travel in East African countries of Kenya and Uganda carrying only their cards and thereby avoiding the risks accompanied by carrying cash on their bodies.

As for the Tanzania Postal Bank card, the UHURU Card, the head of marketing and business development, Mr Imani Kajula said that customers will be able to use their salary accounts.
