NATION MEDIA SET TO LAUNCH NEW UGANDAN TV CHANNEL
A new TV channel is set to be launched in Kampala in the fourth quarter of 2006. The Channel, NTV (Uganda) is a division of Nation Broadcasting whose parent company is the Nation Media Group. The station will expand the NTV brand, currently Kenya's premier channel, to Uganda.
NTV (Uganda) shall look to educate, inform and entertain the Ugandan television viewer not only with quality international programming and news, but also with relevant quality Ugandan local programming, sports and entertainment.
The station will soon set up it's studios in Kampala in order to broadcast it's Ugandan news bulletins. The Kampala offices will also contain facilities for local productions, news-gathering and sales operations.
" We promise to change the lives of the Ugandan television viewer by providing quality entertainment and information. We will also provide the advertiser with an ideal medium to sell and market their products," the NTV Managing Director, Ian Fernandes, said.
The NTV Uganda programming schedule is expected to cater for the entire spectrum of Ugandan viewers. NTV will be looking to raise the bar in the Ugandan TV airwaves and fill the gap of quality programming in the Ugandan market.
Fernandes said the programming content in Uganda will be strong on local content and talk shows. In addition, a strong foreign programme schedule will be incorporated to ensure superior differentiation from competition to attract and retain viewers and advertisers.
