MTN RWANDA SAYS IT”S NOT BLOCKING TERRACOM
MTN Rwanda has denied that it is trying to block Terracom Communications by not carrying calls from that network, said an MTN official.
Marketing manager Albert Kinuma said that MTN would not carry calls until the Rwanda Regulatory and Utilities Agency (RURA) "cleared" Terracom.
Kinuma said: “MTN would be earning more revenue, so it would be meaningless for MTN to deny its clients rights to call subscribers of Terracom, (but) some paperwork between Terracom and RURA has to first be done.” Kinuma said that the range of mobile numbers that Terracom was using was not on the MTN network because regularity approval for this had not been announced yet.
Terracom’s global marketing manager, Victor Kinuma, said that negiotions had been launched to resolve the issue. Victor is Albert’s brother. Terrecom, which launched on May 24, brought MTN’s nine-year monopoly to an end.
