- Nigerian Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala says her country is addressing the "problems" that caused Telkom to pull out of bidding for 51% of Nigerian fixed-line telephone company Nitel in December. Telkom has talked of the possibility of bidding as the tender is rerun but without Vodacom.

- About 500 employees at Telekom Networks Malawi (TNM), the country's second-ranked mobile phone operator, have gone on strike after Friday's sale of a controlling stake in the company to pan-African telecoms firm Econet Wireless.
