- Pan-African mobile operator Celtel International has launched a new Technical Centre in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The centre, which was built at a cost of US$7bn, will serve as a technical hub for Celtel’s operations in the DRC, Gabon, Congo Brazaville, Uganda, Chad and Sierra Leone.Furthermore, the centre will also provide the operator’s 270mn subscribers across 14 African countries, with enhanced quality of service, extended network coverage, and the added benefit of reduced international traffic, allowing for improved connections outside of the user’s home country.
