OPERA TELECOM WORKS WITH C3 TO LAUNCH ENHANCED VOICE SERVICES

Telecoms

C3 is providing the managed service platform with call-handling and IVR facilities which is supplied with connections to all of the South African fixed line and mobile phone networks to achieve this. The equipment will be hosted by C3’s South African distributor, Atlantic Telecom.

It is already running the first of a full range of phone-based entertainment services, including TV voting, competitions, quizzes and games.

One of the first South African broadcasters to use the new system is ETV which is using the system’s voice recording facilities to look for new TV presenters. Each would-be presenter is asked to record their voice on the system, which is then stored as a WAV file. ETV then analyse the different voices to hear their accents and assess their clarity and pick those that are suitable for broadcasting.

C3, based in Cambridge, UK, supplies a call-handling and e-business system for the value-added services market. The company’s customers include Vodafone, BT, broadcasters and many companies offering premium rate telephone services. C3’s system is a multi-channel platform where customers can set up their own applications for fixed and mobile calls, SMS, fax and email.
