- Chinese equipment vendor Huawei Technologies has won a contract for the supply of next-generation voice and data network equipment from Algeria Telecom. The project involves the deployment of a backbone transmission network covering all territories within Algeria. The large-scale rollout will enable Telecom to expand its data services portfolio and provide new value-added applications.

- Finnish vendor Nokia announced it has opened its first office in Tunisia. The new office is located in the capital city of Tunis and will employ ten people. The staff at the office will manage Nokia's relationship with its customers in the country, providing consulting services and technical assistance.
