Acer South Africa moved up to the number two spot in the South African branded LCD monitor market in the third quarter of 2005. That's according to the latest numbers from market researcher, Bryan Norris Associates, which reveal that Acer South Africa grabbed a market share of 11.7% for the quarter.

Acer consolidated its number two position in the broader Middle East and Africa region in the third quarter, according to Bryan Norris' "Branded Market" report. Over the third quarter 2005, Acer also confirmed and strengthened its leadership in Europe in the LCD monitor market with 19.1% market share.

Says David Drummond, country manager at Acer South Africa: "This latest report confirms Acer's continuing growth in the standalone LCD display segment of the South African market. We have increased market share thanks to high acceptance of our current product line-up among users in South Africa.

""The importance of the LCD monitor segment for Acer is demonstrated by our continuous development and enhancement of our three dedicated product lines - the value line, the office line and the prestige line. Supporting formats ranging from 15 to 20-inches, each product line boasts a dedicated design, interface options and ergonomics aimed at meeting the specific needs of the consumer and small to medium-sized businesses."
