GUINEA: 4TH GSM LICENCE FINALLY AWARDED TO INVESTCOM HOLDING SA
According to a source close to the Ministère des Postes et Télécommunications, Guinéenews has learnt that the 4th GSM licence has been awarded to Investcom Holding SA, a Luxembourg based company. It operates under the Areeba or Spacetel brands in Benin, Ghana and Guinea-Bissau. The decision was made on the eve of the Minister's departure for a regional meeting in Dakar called by Senegalese President Wade on ICT.
According to the source, the company will invest a total of USD18.45 million over a period of five year. The licensing was preceded by a lively debate between the Minister of Postes et Télécommunications Jean Claude Jacques Sultan and the Prime Minister Cellou Dalein Diallo which Guinéenews judges to be a bit of a game (s’étaient engagés à «tue tête»)
