-Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer, MTN Nigeria Limited, Afam Edozie has served notice to quit Nigeria's largest Mobile operator, to concentrate on a new project. Edozie, one of the most recognizable faces at the inception of Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) in Nigeria built a formidable brand for MTN through his American-style marketing. He was part of the team that helped MTN achieve over six million subscribers and record balance sheet as well as integrity in the market place. The outgoing MTN marketing boss confirmed that "I am leaving at the end of this month," adding that he will be concentrating on his pet project, a venture capital firm called FiCres Capital, that will fund start-up businesses. Edozie's experience spans 15 years in marketing and strategic management with Virgin, Procter & Gamble and Motorola in Europe.

Though Edozie is leaving MTN voluntarily, the mobile operator has, however, been hit by the exodus of Nigerian top managers who are alleging poor treatment by the South African majority owners of the business. Notable among Nigerians that have left the company are the former Chief of Network Group, Dem Elesho who left the company in April over alleged irreconcilable differences with the former Capital Programmes Group Chief, Christopher Sergeant. Ganiyu Oyesiku who was asked to act for Mr. Elesho in a twist, also resigned in protest over the manner his former boss was treated.
