Outgoing SABC group CEO Peter Matlare is to take up his new position as an executive director at Vodacom SA on 1 April. Vodacom Group chief communications officer Mthobi Tyamzashe confirmed this morning that Matlare would join the cellular network provider as commercial director. The SABC board announced late yesterday that it had accepted Matlare's request to leave before the expiry of his contract, although it said the date of Matlare's departure had yet to be set. This was to be done “at a date to be determined in consultation with the shareholder”. However, Tyamzashe says he will move in April.

The President and Chief Executive Officer of the West African Atlantic Technology (WAT), Paul J. Costa has suggested to the Board of Directors of the Liberia Telecommunications Corporation (LTC) that the LTC bid should be transparent. He said that never has he seen or heard of a business asking private companies to suggest what is needed to save them, rather he added, that a business normally hires an individual consultant to give direction.

According to the LTC Board, the bid for the LTC is exactly for the purpose of acquiring suggestions, and that the company that offers the right solution wins the bid. Costa added "we strongly believe that an independent consultant report is necessary, not suggestions of solutions from private companies to determine the output for LTC and that the report should be made available to interested parties."
