- Synergy Computing, a provider of business intelligence solutions based on the Cognos platform, has announced that its BEE initiatives have received a major boost, with Sekunjalo Investments taking an 81,5% stake in the business. Sekunjalo is a JSE-listed holding company with investments in healthcare, IT and industrial holdings. The sale will not result in a name change for Synergy, however Sekunjalo will control the company's board of directors.
- The Information Communication Technology for African Rural Development (ICTARD), an NGO working with Uganda National Farmers Federation (UNFFE) has launched a pilot project which will merge ICT into the agricultural sector. Helen Karamagi, the Manager of ICTARD, has remarked that the mission of this project is to use ICT to improve agricultural production and welfare of the farmers through the provision of agricultural production and market related information.
- Duxbury Networking is to market its range of Netgear wired and wireless networking products through the established Digital Planet on-line website at www.digitalplanet.co.za. Digital Planet, which is targeted at small to medium size businesses and home users, is an eBucks partner. "Duxbury, the sole distributor of Netgear products in South Africa, joined the Digital Planet family on 1 February 2005 and through Digital Planet's website Duxbury will offer the range of Netgear branded networking products" says Duxbury marketing manager, Louise Taute. At the heart of Digital Planet is the commercial hub through which members can search for products, either by brand or by category. There is also a detailed online catalogue containing relevant technical data, photographs and independent user reviews.
