ERICSSON SELECTED BY MTN SOUTH AFRICA TO SUPPLY 3G/WCDMA NETWORK
Ericsson has been selected by MTN South Africa to supply 3G/WCDMA network. With 3G from MTN, subscribers will be able to experience high bandwidth services such as video telephony, mobile music and TV, as well as wireless broadband Internet access.
The announcement follows MTN's strategic move to provide 3G services to its customers during the first half of 2005. MTN will provide to the market content and applications from the global arena. MTN will leverage on Ericsson's experience from being a supplier in more than 50 per cent of the globally commercially launched 3G/WCDMA networks. Other reports from South Africa indicate some uncertainty about the roll-out date with sales staff saying it will be ready in "January or February."
