NIGERIA’S GLOMOBILE LAUNCHES GPRS SERVICE

GLO Mobile, a subsidiary of Globacom Limited, last week launched GPRS in Nigeria. At the launch Executive Director Mike Jituboh said Glo Mobile hit one-million-subscriber base in 10 months and has capacity for five million lines on the mobile network.

GPRS can transmits pictures, audio messaging, enhanced text messaging and charges are based on the size of message sent which is usually in kilobit per second (kbps).The service will be free of charge before fee-based services are introduced at the end of the month.
