* South African mobile operator Cell C announced it has selected Nokia's MMS solution, making it the first end-to-end MMS solution supplied by Nokia in Sub-Saharan Africa, as well as Nokia's first network deal with a South African operator. Under the agreement, Nokia will provide the Nokia Multimedia Messaging Service Center, Application Gateway, WAP gateway and system integration. The system is already being delivered and will be operational December 1.

* Siemens has built a complete network operations centre (NOC) for Safaricom, Kenya's largest mobile communication provider and has integrated with it a new alarm management system. In addition, Siemens will be installing a performance management system and linking the new network systems to both a workflow and service level agreement management system.

* Zambia's Easi-Phones has introduced a new mobile pay phone brand on the market called Jembi.
