NIGERIA'S NITEL IMPLEMENTS ADSL AND WILL ROLL OUT TO MAJOR CITIES
Last week Nitel joined the growing list of telcos in sub-Saharan Africa offering ADSL internet services. Although at present limited the service will be rolled out to all major cities in the country.
Nitel General Manager - Marketing and Sale Zubaida Rasheed invited Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to take advantage of the infrastructure in connecting their customers, adding that the set-up of the facilities will promote a fast penetration of high quality internet connectivity and is directly connected to the London internet exchange with a high quality and high bandwidth connection.
Shell Trustees Nigeria Limited (Pension Property) is the first company to be connected to the internet using the ADSL technology which provides a high speed connection that runs simultaneously with regular voice traffic.
