LAGOS RESIDENTS TO GET ELECTRONIC TAX CARDS BY JANUARY 2005

Lagos State Government has disclosed that from January 2005, all tax paying adults in Lagos will be issued with electronic tax card to replace the present tax clearance certificate. Deputy Governor Femi Pedro made this disclosure when he hosted members of the Computer & Allied Dealers Association of Nigeria (CAPDAN) last weekend at the state secretariat.

He added that all self-employed people in the informal sector would be expected to pay N10,000 annually as tax to the state, Mr. Pedro affirmed that towards this end, tax forms would be distributed to all traders at the Computer Village through their leaders and appealed for their co-operation.

Pedro promised the delegation of the readiness of government to assist in getting rid of miscreants a.k.a area boys from the market by liaising with the Ikeja Local Government authority and other enforcement agencies.
