ALGERIA’S BADR LAUNCHES COMPUTERISATION PROJECTS

Computing

Automatic bill payments and "bancassurance" are among the computerisation projects to be undertaken by Algerian bank, Banque Algérienne de Développement Rural (BADR), said Farouk Bouyacoub, the company’s D-G last week.

The automatic deduction system will allow customers of the bank to make bill payments to utilities like gas and electricity directly without having to go to their bill payment centres. He also said the bank would be connecting its branches using VSAT, which would be particularly important for customers using branches in the far south of the country. This connectivity would help speed up the processing of cheques by the bank. A new web site will also be launched on 15 June which the bank hoped would be better at meeting the needs of its customers.
