THE multi-million dollar Library and Information Technology Resource Centre for the Polytechnic of Namibia, set up to meet the challenges of the age of information and technology at the institution, will be fully operational come July 2005.

The Information and Technology (IT) centre will facilitate technology based education and training through easy access to information via the Internet and by using online research.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony in the capital on Wednesday, Higher Education, Training and Employment Creation Minister, Nahas Angula applauded the Polytechnic for acquiring the IT centre, saying that the centre will create a knowledge based labour force that will put Namibia on the map in terms of acquiring IT skills and competencies.

"The facility will add value to the function of storing knowledge and skills that are expected from all tertiary institutions in Namibia, the minister noted.
