Digital Content

In June 2004 Angola Press Agency (ANGOP) will launch a new portal-based service, according to Manuel Miguel de Carvalho "Wadijimbi", the agency’s Director-General. Speaking on occasion of ANGOP’s 28th anniversary he explained that the portal is a mechanism that will bring internal changes in terms of organisation as well as the re-qualification of the staff and the modernization on the technology of gathering and distributing information. To this end, ten journalists will attend in November an internal training course to be given by a journalist of the France Press Agency.

ANGOP’s site is accessed abroad by some 6 million people; in the country, every month 66,000 people access the agency’s website. This State-run agency has 740 workers, comprising journalists, technical staff and administrative personnel.
