- The web site developed exclusively for civil society organizations and donor agencies in Nigerianet, was launched last week in Abuja. Nigerianet, an initiative of the British Council and with financial support from the European Commission, has taken two years to develop.

* Econet Wireless Holdings Ltd (Econet) chairman, prominent medical practitioner Professor Norman Nyazema, and former Econet Nigeria boss Zacharia Wazara are leaving the telecommunications group. As at June 30 this year Nyazema held 2,175,000 shares in the company while Wazara had a 112,815 chunk.

* In a Stock Exchange News Service (SENS) announcement yesterday, Telkom informed the market of the appointment of Brian Manning, the Company’s Financial Comptroller, as an alternate director to Shawn McKenzie, Telkom’s Chief Operating Officer. The position of alternate director to which Manning was appointed, became available when the Company’s former Chief Financial Officer, Anthony Lewis was transferred to a position in the United States earlier this year. McKenzie, Manning and Lewis are all employees of SBC Communication, Telkom’s strategic Equity Partner.
