KENCELL IN THEFT AGREEMENT WITH TANZANIAN AND UGANDAN MOBILE COMPANIES
Kencell, one of Kenya’s mobile phone services providers, last announced it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with its counterparts from Tanzania and Uganda to de-bar stolen handsets. Phillipe Vanderbrouck, the firm’s managing director said, they will use the mobile set log book to identify the owner of the phone then de-bar it from accepting another SIM card.
The companies that have entered into a working partnership with KenCell are Kenya’s Safaricom, Celtel and Vodacom, Mobitel and Zantel (Tanzania) and MTN, Celtel Uganda and uganda telecom of Uganda. He advised mobile phone subscribers to take down serial numbers of their mobile phones as proof of ownership.
