TUNISIANA’S SUBSCRIBERS REACH THE 351,000 MARK END AUGUST
Private sector Tunisian operator Tunisiana (owned by Orascom and Al Watanya) has upgraded its network in the holiday areas of Djerba, Raf-Raf and Hammamet and has hit the 351,000 subscriber mark by the end of August. It claims to have signed on between 10-15,000 subscribers in July and 41,000 in the month of August. Its promotion offering an access tariff of 99 dinars (down from 120 dinars) was extended until 7 September. In three weeks in July the company sent 86,000 SMS messages to its clients and 115,000 several days later at the end of the festivals. It now covers 40% of all Tunisian territory and 70% of the population. It plans to have covered 75% of the population by the year end.
