- South Africa’s University of the Free State is making its largest information technology investment to date, spending R20m on student administration software from PeopleSoft.

- The Kenyan ICT industry expects a good financial year now that duty on computers and accessories has been removed.

- Microsoft has expanded its long-standing contract with CS Holdings to include call centre, telesales and telemarketing. To accommodate the provision of these new services, CS Holdings has opened new facilities adjacent to its existing Midrand head office, which include a call centre (that can accommodate up to 110 seats), six large screen wall displays for monitoring purposes and a full suite of support and management tools.

- Lagos State Government, to ensure quality modern education for the state, has intensified efforts at incorporating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) programme in youth education policies. This is in line with the administration’s goal of making more than 50 percent of school children in Lagos e-literate by the year 2007.
