* On the move: Richard Bell has moved over from SwiftKenya to run Kenya Data Networks, one of the new national data operators....Sammy Buruchara has moved over from NairobiNet to run Open Data Systems, another of the national data operators....Former Kenyan civil servant with responsibilities for ICT Juma Okech has been chosen by the Rwandan President to run one of his ICT initiatives.

* Njeri Rionge of Kenya’s Wananchi takes over from Nii Quaynor on the Board of ICANN who has stepped down at the end of his term.

* The NEPAD E-Schools Initiative was launched at the World Economic Forum’s Africa Economic Summit in Durban today, June 12 with the aim of bridging the digital divide and giving the continent’s children the skills they need to thrive in the 21st century.Speaking at the launch, Henry Chasia, Executive Deputy Chairperson of the e-Africa initiative said, "I have no doubt that of all the NEPAD projects the NEPAD E-Schools Initiative will have the greatest impact on Africa’s ability to achieve the millennium development goals.’

* The Managing Director of the Nigerian Telecommunications Limited (NITEL), Emmanuel Omeata, and two other directors have been retired.Others retired were the Executive Director, Mobile Telecommunications Limited (M-TEL), Davis Daramola and Executive Director, Long Distance Communication, Yusuf Sule Adamu.
